Dawntail simply nodded as Fritilaryfang apologized, casting the tortoiseshell an accepting smile as she daunted over him, apologizing twice as much as he had to her. He was more shocked then hurt, though where they had collided was definitely quite sore, and Dawntail couldn’t help but feel bad as she apologized to him. It wasn’t her fault that it had happened, it was just an accident.
When Fritilaryfang announced that they would finally be going out on the patrol, Dawntail let out a small sigh of relief. Confidence wasn’t necessarily his strong suit, and while he did his best, and sometimes even succeeded, at showing confidence, his flirting skills definetly need more work. Privetflower definetly seemed more skilled in both the art of flirting and confidence, and Dawntail couldn’t help but feel like he was outmatched by the she-cat. At least if they were out on the patrol, he could focus on hunting instead of coming up with a clever or “cool” response.
A familiar scent filled Dawntail’s bright nose, and Dawntail felt his butterflies flutter in his stomach as a wave of nostalgia came over him. It reminds me of my mother... Dawntail thought, memories of a beautiful she-cat with bright blue eyes peering down with him, her gaze filled with love and admiration for her son.
“I found a kit, By the waterfall. I think he was abandoned... He's going to need someone to raise him. He is too young to be fed only on prey- he will need milk.”
Amberstar’s voice rang out in the camp, her voice loud and seeking the attention of her clanmates as she announced her discovery, carrying a little bundle of fur. Dawntail’s eyes widened when he saw the kit, it was so small, much to small to be without a mother.
Dawntail let out a chuckle as she watched the brown kit stick a small paw in his mouth, chewing on it gently as his wide, kit-blue eyes peered curiously at the gathered cats. As Dawntail watched it, he felt pity for it as it began to mewl. It had no mother, it had no father, and if the Flameclan cats couldn’t figure something out soon, he feared that the kit would soon lose his life too.
Dawntail’s ear’s swiveled towards Fritilaryfang as she suggested they leave, but he was much to enthralled with the young kit to abandon them. It’s big eyes, it’s little paws, it’s soft, spotted fur, Dawntail felt an almost paternal instinct towards the little thing, no, more like a big brother.
“I-I’m not a she-cat, but I want to help him too. Maybe... maybe we can send out a patrol to try and find a nursing Rogue in the clanless land? I’m sure if we offer one shelter for her and her kits, or even just for her, she could nurse him for the time being.” Dawntail suggested, hoping that they could find help for the kit and quickly.
