after nosing the two queens in, flashing splinter a weak smile, he stiffly went to guarding right outside the den.
before he could even doze off, the rustling of needles across the earth made his ears perk. once he caught sight of a tail, he took off in the cat's direction, his paws expertly quiet like he knew this territory well.
cherryblossom was used to the barren ground of jaggedclan territory, she shifted the earth unknowingly as she crept, and though he only heard her graceful steps once or twice, it was enough for him to track her down.
as he grew closer, the must carried on the pelts of the two thieves from earlier made him bristle with rage.
despite almost shaking with anger, he kept himself still, knowing that he'd have to be as quiet as the darkness to catch her.
once he detected the perfect moment to strike, he exploded from the darkness, out from behind a towering pine tree. he slammed into the cat and felt a surge of power despite the pain jolting through his limbs as they crashed to the ground. digging his claws in to achieve a firm grip, he roared in the cat's ears, his eyes blazing and lips curling, body trembling with anger and adrenaline.
"why have you returned? why do you cats waltz in here as if you own this land?"
his voice quaked and cracked, his tail lashing furiously behind him. he wanted to kill this cat and paint the forest with their blood, but his body trembled and shook. he'd likely not actually have the guts to kill them, but he wanted to choke the breath out of them and send them running back to their cats without ears or eyes or teeth.
he shook the cat by their shoulders furiously, but stopped as the moon came through the trees and illuminated her beautiful features. she was not scrawny and gaunt like the other two queens, she beamed and radiated health, her limbs plump and her fur long and soft and smooth. he now regretted hurting her if he had, but still held firmly onto her.
