Roleplay/Site Questions
Q: How do I join a Clan?
A: Roleplay>Territories>The Forest>[Clan of Choice]>Applications and Allegiances thread.
Q: How do I roleplay on here?
A: First, you'll need to join a Clan. After you've been accepted, return to the general Clan board and click on the Camp roleplay thread. Go ahead and type your post, then post it! Roleplaying on a forum is essentially a collaborative story- you write as your characters and interact with the roleplay exactly as though you are writing a story.
Staff Tip: Try to keep posts a minimum of 3 sentences! This gives other roleplayers something to respond to.
Q: Is this site still under COPPA?
A: Yes. COPPA is an international law, and websites have to abide by it; including ProBoards. An announcement has been made on it.
Q: What exactly is the warning level? Once it reaches 100%(or whatever the max is) will that member be permanently ban or something?
A: The warning level system is a way to punish people who break rules. Yes, once it reaches 100%, they will be permanently banned.
Q: Is there a a limit to how long a leader lives?
A: A cat's maximum lifespan in this rp is 15 years, so yes, there sort-of is. However, that is still a pretty long time to keep playing as them, as that's 3 real life years and 8 months. Though, it is not very common for a leader to live that long. Most cats would also retire around 12 to be elders.
Q: Who decides the weather/time of day in a Clan?
A: Good question. Answer? Well... kinda undecided. Since this is a forum roleplay, which are more slow-paced and drawn-out than a roleplay taking place in a game, there is no specific "time of day", really, as of now. However, I was thinking of using a roleplay narrator to do this, with a few staff given the ability to use that alter, and have someone post in each Clan thread whenever night falls/etc... but that could be a bit confusing and people would likely forget. So for now I'm pretty much thinking: Night IRL = Night in rp, and Day IRL = Day in rp. That's probably the simplest way to go about it.
Q: How often are gatherings?
A: Gatherings occur once a month, on the first weekend of each month. This information and more can be found on the sidebars!
Q: When a cat dies, are they transported straight to StarClan or do you have to apply for it?
A: Yes and no. When a cat dies, they do go to StarClan, however, a post must be made to alert the staff that the cat in question has passed and moved to StarClan. That thread can be found here.
Q: Do rogues count towards your character limit?
A: No, these characters do not count towards your limit.
Q: I travel to japan a lot, so does that mean my character lives in a different time than everyone else? Should they experience jet lag?
A: No. The character =/= the player- player location does not affect the character in the roleplay.
Q: What timezone does the roleplay operate in?
A: The roleplay has no specific timezone- since the roleplayers are scattered all across the globe, picking one specific timezone is a little tricky, so it's up to the roleplayers to collaborate in their posts on what time it is. This isn't necessarily a big deal; so long as they comply to the seasons and attend Gatherings and the necessary 'mass meetings', the roleplay can have any timezone the roleplayers choose for each individual Clan.
Q: Is a leader/deputy appointed classically, like in the books, or do they have to be approved or chosen by the staff?
A: Deputies and medicine cats(MCAs are chosen by MCs though) are chosen only by the leader of the Clan and staff have no say in the decision unless the player has been placed on punishment that disables them from high ranks. So, to answer your question: they are appointed classically.
Q: When creating a rogue is there a place where they must be entered(Like when joining a clan) or not?
A: Nope! You're free to roleplay them in the Clanless area.
Q: If one of your characters die, and you want them to go to StarClan, do you have to role-play them in StarClan? For example, your cat dies, and in the role playing their death, they say they will go to StarClan. However, you don't apply for StarClan and no longer want to role play them. Can the other cat's alive know your cat is in StarClan? Or do I have to make an adoption thread?
A: Characters that die will automatically go to Dark Forest or StarClan depending on which the user wishes/how the cat was in life. You do not have to roleplay them once they die, and StarClan allegiances/applications are only to keep track of who is in StarClan and actually roleplaying there. Your cat will go regardless of whether you wish to keep roleplaying them or not- including if you leave the site, because there is no viable roleplay reason as to why a cat shouldn't move on to the afterlife after death.
Q: Are you allowed to get your own she cat pregnant with your own Tom? Also do both cats have to be approved and can you keep the kits?
A: It is highly discouraged to have your own cats be mates, but if you WERE to do it, then yes, both cats must be approved characters, and yes, you could keep the kits.
Q: Would it be acceptable to have a newcoming character who uses gender neutral pronouns, such as "xe/xer/xemself?"
A: Gender neutral pronouns are allowed, yes, but they/them is preferred due to being the most well known and easier to remember for people- trying to juggle between a bunch of different characters' custom pronouns would be unnecessarily difficult.
Q: When someone leaves the forum, do their characters fade from StarClan?
A: No. They simply aren't roleplayed anymore, but within the rp's canon and in character, they still exist, because there is no logical in-character reason why a character should fade from existence.
Q: If I have an unborn kit character and the clan already accepted my kit, could I say something like, "The kit kicked his mother's stomach..." in the clan thread?
A: No. Generally, you should wait for the kit to be born before roleplaying it, as kits do not gain full consciousness until after birth. We would prefer for you to be patient and wait for the kit to be born before roleplaying it.
Q: Can I play as a kittypet kitten, and if so will I be able to interact with housefolk?
A: Yes, you can play as a kittypet kitten, however, no one RPs twolegs/housefolk. There are no spots for kittypets to live at the moment, but you can create a lost kittypet, or one that ran away from home.
