    Ruepath turned away at the defeat of Briarstar. It was easy to tell that her poor daughter was suffering. Every bought of news she was given seemed to add stones in her heart. She prayed that whatever was in the sky watching them would show a little mercy.

    Then she turned away. The blue molly couldn't bring herself to just watch her go, still, she wasn't good with emotions. She could run her mouth about anything but. "Briarstar." She stepped forward. Her amber eyes revealed everything. That of a desperate mother doing her best to keep her daughter sane.

    She ran up, pressing her head against the black tabbies side. "I'm here for you." Her voice was nothing but a whisper. "So are your siblings.. And the whole clan." She didn't have to do this alone and she would make for her daughter knew that.

    Then she turned around. ∞TEA∞

    Opossumtail let out a breath at Riley's answer. What she said was vague and didn't make her feel any more comfortable. The lynx point felt an undeniable urge to protect. She couldn't do that with all the vague answers. "You know what you want." She faced the tabby with a hard gaze. "You know if you want to run or stay. Just believe me when I say that nothing compares to the bond that we OakClanner's share with each other."

    There was a moment of silence before Riley spoke again. Her blue gaze traveled towards Burnetfoot. She flicked her scared ear to acknowledge him. "I don't know." Then she stood up. If the ginger tom needed something, then he would stand up as well. sully , Sol

Briarstar turned her head as Ruepath spoke her name, still cold gaze meeting her mother's and just barely flinching at what she saw there. The openness. The emotions that were shown. How could other cats do that so easily? She didn't understand anymore.

"I'm here for you. So are your siblings.. And the whole clan." Her mother and Sootclaw and Thornheart and... the rest...

Perhaps they wanted to be there for her, but she couldn't accept their support. It was—it was touching that her mother still wanted to be there despite Briarstar's not-so-recent pull away from family and friends, but it just couldn't work. If she went to friends and family every time something was troubling her or she was unsure, nothing would ever get done. It took too much time, and there was so much to do, and she had to keep moving on. As if to emphasize what had yet to be done, it was drizzling now. Leaf-bare was just a step away... or it was already here.

But the leader gave her mother a small nod before Ruepath turned away. The coldness in her gaze flickered for a moment, then she continued on her way to the pile. As she reached there she saw Silverpaw dropping off a bird and taking a mouse with her, and frowned internally. Had she gone hunting alone? Really? What about Burnetfoot's hunting patrol? Silverpaw wasn't old enough, she could have gotten hurt, she wasn't experienced enough, and—Briarstar pushed the worries away as she picked up the squirrel, slightly damp on the outside. It was over and done with, and Silverpaw was alright. Or was she alright? The worry still nagged. Ottercreek had been her mentor, after all.

'Focus.' Briarstar padded over to the nursery, recalculating her appearance as she did so. Trying to make herself seem a bit more relaxed. She couldn't worry a queen and her kits. She had to seem a little softer, though a little weariness was okay. Not too stiff. Stopping outside the entrance to the den, she thought to announce her arrival. But with the prey in her mouth, that wasn't possible, so the leader poked her head in and dropped the squirrel on the earth there before mewing, "I hope I'm not intruding? Thought you might be hungry." Her gaze found Quailface and her two surviving kits.

Pigeonnose watched Thornheart quietly, observing his every movement. He seemed to be in pain, and she felt sorrow for all of those others who were in it too; except for herself. As Thornheart's mind was twisted away from her and Echospring and towards his apprentice, she sighed, listening to them in complete silence. As he spoke of heading out for training, she got curious.

"Ah...Thornheart. Would you mind if I went?" she asked quietly, carefully thinking through her words before replying once more. "I...I...I'm not good...at fighting." Her last part was mumbled, hoping the tom would only hear. She was embarrassed by the fact that she was bad at fighting; She was quite fat. Her tail swept around her side and was slowly twitching.

She sighed. If they weren't battle training, she would still like to come along. "Or...could I come along on whatever training you're doing?" She wasn't much of a talker.

Foxwhisker thought for a moment, then nodded. "If they're both up for it, I don't see why not," he replied, rolling his shoulders and producing a muted popping sound. "Go ahead and get them; I'll meet you at the entrance." Burnetfoot kept eyeing Riley and Opossumtail as he awaited Nightengaleflight's response. When he noticed her flick her ear in acknowledgement to him, he blinked. As she stood, he decided it was time he went over to her and her apprentice. "Sorry, but I'm going to go speak to Opossumtail and Riley now," he informed the molly, before he strode over to them. He then stopped once he reached them.

Burnetfoot didn't say anything at first as he examined the two of them, trying to tell if they were injured for sure or not since he was closer to them now. Yeah, Opossumtail was injured it seemed, but Riley wasn't, in fact, it looked like she hadn't been in a fight at all. After that, he finally spoke. "I'm afraid I can't invite you along because it seems you're injured Opossumtail, but with your permission, and if Riley is ok with it, I'd like to bring her along on a hunting patrol with me and Nightengaleflight," he explained before he fell silent, hoping the warrior would be ok with it and that the 'apprentice' would want to come along.

Sagepaw nodded, her tail-tip twitching before she turned on her paws, scanning the camp in search of the other apprentice. She really wanted to just go, so she hoped that the smaller she-cat would be easy to find. Her eyes flashed as she found Tinypaw, next to another figure whom Sagepaw couldn't quite figure out. She didn't take it into consideration that she might be interrupting.

"Hey, Tinypaw," she meowed. "Are you up for a hunting patrol with me and Foxwhisker?"

Tinypaw nodded her head to everything her mentor had said. Her ears perked up when she heard the question Sagepaw had asked. Maybe checking the den could wait. "Hi Sagepaw! Hailbreeze walked into camp surprisingly fast. He had been disinterested in the gathering but the mention of a raid frightened the tom. He needed to check on his brother. So he did so. The tom attempted to head for the warriors den(where Draftfeather was likely to be hiding) but stopped when his name had been called. He glared at Briarstar. Not really knowing how to handle his worry. "Send someone else." Was all he mustered before fleeing to the warriors den. Out of all of his priorities, Draftfeather was on top. There were so many other cats Briarstar could send out.

"Draftfeather?" He mewed lowly as he pressed into the warriors den. moss

thornheart immediately tensed as sagepaw offered tinypaw to go on a hunting party, and he bristled uneasily as tinypaw agreed. he opened his maw almost immediately to show his disapproval. there was no way he was letting his untrained apprentice out right after a raid, even if it had been reported that the forest was free of jaggedclanners.

as she turned to him, his mouth still open, he hesitated and thought. stifling a sigh, he looked at her with a more stern face than before.

"only if foxwhisker says okay." he ordered.

if the handsome tom didn't want another apprentice tripping under his paws, he'd make sure tinypaw stayed in camp with him and helped out. he wondered if she could even hunt yet. she seemed to have pretty good intuition about where prey was and what it would and wouldn't be expecting, but still, she was a young apprentice with minimal to no training.

he looked over to the ginger tom, then back to his apprentice and her friend.

riley bristled and her pelt rippled uneasily as opossumtail took on an odd approach, one she took as aggressive. it startled her and she drew back, her eye growing wide warily.

her attention quickly shifted as she eyed the tom coming over, her hackles bristling ever so slightly. she kept her single eye on him practically the whole time.

his words seemed to swim straight through her ears, as if he was speaking another language. the complexities of of this clan had yet to register with her.

her lip quivered for a moment, as if she were about to say something, but she quickly bit her tongue.

she glanced at opossumtail, her eye wide and curious.

Echospring gave Alderpelt a nod, trotting over to Thornheart. She quietly tended to his wounds, attempting to clean and secure his wounds.     Opossumtail had expected Burnetfoot to approach her or talk, so when he did move towards her she sat back down. She made sure to neatly wrap her tabby tail around her paws but not before she cleaned her paws and drew it over her ears. She winced at the pain but opened her eyes to see the red tom as close as he was going to get.

    His words were interesting.

    "You refer to my ear? It's just a few scratches. No JaggedClanner can put more than a scratch on me I'm afraid." Then the ticked tabby mentioned Riley and she scrunched up her face in that of discontent. "I have not received the chance to teach her anything." She looked at the tabby apprentice. "I'd like to take her out myself.... Just the two of us." The molly stared the tom in the eyes. She was sure of this. A mentor apprentice bond was very important...     Ruepath didn't bother to look back or acknowledge her daughter after her saying. She knew her daughter all too well.. So well, she wondered why she had even uttered anything to her. So she kept walking up until she spotted her apprentice. The ticked tabby huffed towards the stout tom. "Bramblepaw, if you ever become leader - you'll definitely have a chance by the time I'm done training - you must know that you don't have to do everything alone. Realizing that is so important. If you don't, then you're practically killing yourself. Cats will always be there for you." She looked to find Briarstar but the tabby had disappeared from view.

    Ruepath sat down. She tilted her head towards Bramblepaw. "I'm reluctant to take you out right now. We might be needed in camp. Maybe we could train here. Who says you have to go out just to practice?" qυickรilvєя

    Nightengaleflight watched Burnetfoot disappear. She had zoned out and hadn't heard a thing the tom said. She was more than a little peeved. She wanted to get out but it was taking centuries to form a patrol. She would've left on her own if she hadn't gotten an idea. They needed more paws so she went to grab one. Her paws took her to the warriors den where she saw several warriors huddle. Some rested, some comforted, and the rest sat in fear. She spotted Sorrelsong and decided he would be her victim. She grinned.

    "You're not doing anything. How about you come along on a hunting patrol." She stood straight as if to mock a soldier saluting his commander. "And that's an order." loveymymavi

thornheart winced as echospring tended to her wounds, gritting his teeth in pain as the flesh was touched by another.

when she finished, he turned to her with a grateful, yet weak, smile, then listened to what she had to say. he nodded, touching his tail to pigeonnose's flank, shooting a glance at his apprentice, and then moved to where he had seen his sister last.

he picked up her scent near the prey pile, then followed it to the nursery, lowering his tail and poking his muzzle into the den cautiously.

"briarstar?" he murmured quietly, catching sight of her through the thickets. she had a squirrel in her muzzle, hovering over quailface, and the male felt guilt for interrupting whatever transition had been going on between them.

he scolded himself mentally, and pulled back slightly, his tail twitching with sudden unease.

riley shifted, watching opossumtail. she felt a sudden fear, a pressure weighing down heavily on her, now aware of how much would be demanded from her.

her stomach turned uneasily, and she secretly wished to get away from opossumtail now, and go along with this handsome ginger tom. he seemed further down to earth than opossumtail, who had first struck her as rather normal. now, the lynx point seemed bossy, blunt, and boastful. she swallowed, and shot a worried glance at burnetfoot. her tail tip twitched.

quailface hardly moved as briarstar entered the nursery, the tabby's voice sounding so much further away. she felt nauseous and sick suddenly, and despite the cold she felt incredibly warm. her sides heaved, then fell shallow, then heaved, and fell shallow again. her breathing was erratic and hard, she seemed to gasp for air, yet found that her chest seemed far too tight.

sounds blurred around her, voices and chirps of birds dissolving into car alarms as the hum of her heart beat seemed to fill her mind, abstracting all besides static.

heat pulsed from her chest cavity, yet her limbs were stone cold. her eyes were glossy and fluttered shut, the yellow orbs dizzy and hazy as they did so.

her toes twitched, and her pelt bristled- a sign she was still alive. yet, she hardly seemed conscious.

Tinypaw looked around for Foxwhisker. She really wanted to go. She watched as her mentor got his wounds treated to, and she watched him walk away. Was he mad? Disappointed in her accepting the hunting request? Maybe she didn't really know how to hunt yet, but she really wanted to try. She sat down and looked around trying to clear her thoughts. Three cats dead, Jaggedclan raid, leaf-bare. Life in a clan wasn't as easy as it had seemed.

She had put down the squirrel just by the entrance inside the nursery so she could call to announce her entrace, but there was no answer. Briarstar's gaze landed on Quailface, initially thinking that the queen might be asleep. But a moment later, she realized it wasn't right. Her breath seemed to come in desperate gasps and heaves. Bad dream? No. No. The queen's eyes told her that this didn't seem to be a dream. She seemed to be awake, somewhat.

But what exactly was wrong? Quailface was often ill, especially now that her mate had disappeared and was not there to comfort her. Hence why only two of the queen's kits had survived... at least they seemed healthy still. Fear rose inside of the leader, and she took a step forward. Not another cat ill, not another cat injured.

"Briarstar?" The leader immediately recognized her brother's voice, but didn't turn around. Instead, she finished making her way to Quailface's side, touching her nose gently to the queen's pelt. Hot. Too hot to be right. What could she do? She was no medicine cat. "Thornheart, get Asp—" Wait, he was unaccounted for. Then who? Alderpelt seemed to know a bit, but most likely not enough. Still...

"Get Alderpelt." He should be done with Thrushpaw by now, hopefully. "Quailface isn't—" She refrained from stating the obvious. Thornheart could see for himself. "Go. It's urgent." She prayed that the tom would know something.

Draftfeather was huddled up in his nest, tail curled around himself tight and head resting on his paws. The death of Ottercreek followed quickly by the raid from Jaggedclan had left the warrior shaken and exhausted, even if he hadn't fought in the fray himself. His eyes were focused on nothing, painting an eerie picture- almost statue like- as he lay there.

His ears perked when he heard his name, blinking a few times before he turned his head to the den entrance. There stood Hailbreeze, concern apparent on his features but Draftfeather didn't pick up on that. His whiskers twitched, and he shifted some but not much. He had a million things he could say, but his voice didn't come through for him this time. So, with a tired sigh, he moved his tail away if Hailbreeze wanted to come and lay with him.

Truthfully, he'd love to get out for a bit. Draftfeather wanted up in the trees, in his cradle of branches, listening to bird song. He probably wouldn't for a while though, at least not until he'd settled some.

Brimstone was sitting on her own, a bit away from everyone else. Her amber eyes watched the camp and the cats as they milled around, and her ears swiveled this way and that as she listened. The young feline felt more foreign than ever in this moment- the one cat who'd paid her enough mind to bring her here in the first place was gone, and she didn't know if these cats would like her at all.

Her tail twitched idly, and she picked up a paw to lick at idly. She'd torn a claw during that battle that had hit all of a sudden, after leaving some molly with only some of her ear left. The bleeding had stopped, but she still licked gingerly at her paw so as not to aggravate it further.
